Marvell releases new 10G / 40G Alaska X device
Beijing, May 9th, 2013- Content Electronics Technology (Marvell, Nasdaq: MRVL), a global leader in integrated chip solutions, today announced the launch of a new Marvell optimized for 10G and 40G fiber and copper cables ® Alaska® X PHY device. As a leader in the Ethernet physical layer market, Marvell offers a broad portfolio of 10G and higher-speed products. The 88X2242, 88X2242M, 88X2222, and 88X2222M are specially designed to have comprehensive physical layer performance, greatly simplifying circuit board design to meet the needs of next-generation software-defined storage, networking, computing, and mobile platforms.
To meet the industry development trend of higher density switches and server configurations, 88X2242 and 88X2242M can support one-port 40G QSFP + or four-port 10G SFP + Ethernet connections. 88X2222 and 88X2222M devices can support 10G SFP + connection with two ports. The main advantages include ultra-low latency, high security with wire-speed encryption, and high reliability during port failover. In addition, the pin-compatible features of the four products also prepare for system design flexibility.
All devices have built-in electronic dispersion compensation (EDC), and provide short-distance (SR), long-distance (LR), long-distance multimode (LRM) fiber and direct additional copper cable (DAC) connection. Symbolic features include 802.1AE MACSec functionality, built-in backup support, and flexible host interface options that support XFI, RXAUI, and XAUI.
