Recently, Canada's telecommunications media company Bell and Nokia are jointly promoting the testing of 5G signals in Canada.
At the Bell Radio Innovation Center, the two sides conducted a 5G mobile signal test using a spectrum in the 73 GHz range, which is six times faster than the existing 4G network in Canada.
Bell’s Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President stated that Bell and Nokia will work with other partners to create networks, devices and application ecosystems in North America and around the world to ensure that Canadians can take full advantage of 5G globally. â€
Since the beginning of this year, 5G signals have been put on the agenda by countries.
In early July, 17 network service operators and communication equipment manufacturers wrote a 5G construction plan to the EU, and wanted to establish a 5G standard network by 2020.
In mid-July, the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) made provisions for the frequency bands used by 5G. FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler proposed a proposal to open up high-bandwidth spectrum resources and increase traffic speed.
The major operators in the United States have also been active, and mobile communications operators AT&T and Verizon respectively claimed to start piloting 5G signals this year.
In China, Huawei successfully tested the performance of 5G key technologies in Chengdu in April this year, and expects to achieve 5G commercialization by 2020.
In the past year or two, operators in various countries have been testing base stations for 5G networks. But more than 85% of people around the world are still using 3G mobile phones to access the Internet, and this technology may not be popular as soon as possible.
