On January 5th, in November 2015, an Estonian company called Velmenni startup said that it has developed an ultra-fast network transmission technology that communicates via visible light. The LiFi technology used in the test can be as fast as 1GBps. Sending data, this speed is more than 100 times that of current WiFi networks. Recently, China's scientific research workers have also made major breakthroughs in the research of visible light communication. The latest test results show that the real-time communication rate of visible light in China has been increased to 50 Gbps, and the speed is leading globally.
According to the Dahe Daily, on January 4th, the National 863 Program, led by the Information Engineering University, and the major research and application of the key technology of the visible light communication system in Zhengzhou City, made a major breakthrough. In one fell swoop, the real-time communication rate of visible light is increased to 50 Gbps, which is five times the highest international level currently reported. It is equivalent to 0.2 seconds to download a high-definition movie. At present, the relevant results have been tested and certified by the Institute of Telecommunications Transmission of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
It is understood that "LiFi" is the abbreviation of "visible light wireless communication", which uses wireless signals to transmit information wirelessly. It uses a well-laid device (ubiquitous LED light) to form a device similar to an AP (WiFi hotspot) by implanting a tiny chip on the bulb, allowing the terminal to access the network at any time. The technology transmits data by changing the blinking frequency of the room lighting. As long as the lights are turned on indoors, the Internet can be accessed without WiFi.
