Fairchild designed a USB switch FSA2000 for smartphones to extend battery life
Fairchild Semiconductor provides mobile phone designers with an automatic selection high-speed USB switch FSA2000 integrated with a capacitor-free headphone audio amplifier. This is the industry's first integrated USB switch device of the same type, and can reduce the number of components and circuits The board takes up space and reduces bill of materials (BOM) costs.

The current discrete solution requires the use of multiple discrete components such as a USB switch, two large 220µF capacitors, and an external headphone amplifier. FSA2000 integrates a class AB capless headphone amplifier compatible with USB 2.0 full-speed (FS) and high-speed (HS) switches, eliminating the need for additional components, saving board space and reducing BOM costs.
When VBUS is detected, FSA2000 can automatically switch to the USB path. In this process, there is no need to power the headphone amplifier, thus saving power and extending battery life.
SA2000 is a member of Fairchild Semiconductor's rich USB solutions. They are often used for sharing and routing of USB ports through the use of advanced detection technology. This type of switch is compatible with USB2.0 FS/HS channels and has a bandwidth of more than 720MHz. It is very suitable for USB port isolation, connector sharing and signal multiplexing applications.
