The level automatic control circuit uses a digitally switched audio attenuator to control the signal level in the signal path. The output level of the system is detected and compared with the reference level, and then the corresponding audio attenuation adjustment amount is inserted through the switch. This control method is almost instantaneous, eliminating some of the technical trade-offs that must be taken in a typical RC network ALC system that uses fast start and slow decay methods.
