LG Display and UDC Develop Wearable OLED Display

U.S. Universal Display Technology (UDC) and South Korea's LG Display have developed a bracelet-shaped OLED display, which was also exhibited at the exhibition while being released at the "SID Display Week2009" Society. Imagine that it is worn on the wrist and can be viewed like a watch.

The display has a screen size of 4 inches (81.6 mm x 61.0 mm) and a pixel and resolution of QVGA (320 x RGB x 240 pixels) and 100 ppi, respectively. Support for 1.67 million colors display.

The material of the O LED is a phosphorescent material of UDC. The brightness when emitting white light is 100 cd/m2, and the contrast is 1000 to 1. Driven by 15V, the power consumption is about 1W. The bottom plate is made of steel sheet with a thickness of only 76 μm, and the overall thickness of the panel is only 0.3 mm. A bend with a radius of curvature of 2 inches is possible. The weight is 8g. The OLED is driven using an amorphous silicon TFT.
