Catalyst adds brightness adjustment components to its products

It is reported that Catalyst has added two high-resolution brightness adjustment components, "CAT3647" and "CAT364832", to its Quad-Mode fractional charge pump LED driver product line.

Catalyst's new CAT3647 and CAT3648 chip brightness adjustment features provide enhanced LCD backlight control for emerging portable applications. It is launched to meet the needs of high-resolution LCD brightness control and extended battery life. Through programming capabilities, the step increment is only 3% of the interval. CAT3647 and CAT3648 provide designers with better LED current and brightness control for a richer user experience. This is all done through Catalyst's single-wire programmable interface (EZDimTM), which supports a total of 32 linear adjustments from full-bright to zero-current EZDimTM interface.

The new LED driver is a 4-mode fractional charge pump (1x, 1.33x, 1.5x, 2x) that provides 10% more conversion efficiency and no additional cost compared to a 3-mode charge pump. The CAT3647 drives up to 3 LEDs with a maximum current of 30mA per LED. The CAT3648 drives up to 4 LEDs. The maximum current per LED is 25mA. The power efficiency of both LEDs is up to 92%. CAT3647 and CAT3648 are now available. Join the Catalyst Quad-Mode LED driver family, including: CAT3604V four-channel LED driver with PWM dimming interface; CAT3636 six-channel LED driver with single-line EZDim interface and 32-level brightness adjustment;

CAT3644 four-channel LED driver with single-line EZDim interface, 6-level brightness adjustment and CAT3643LED three-channel LED driver; CAT3637 six-channel LED driver with single-line EZDim interface and 16-level brightness adjustment.

Samples and evaluation boards are now available for the CAT3647. Thanks to the ultra-thin 3mm x 3mm, 16-pin TQFN package, the new components save board space and cost, and compared to existing 3-mode LED drivers, four operating modes can be achieved without additional capacitors.

Plug-in Terminal Block

It is made of two parts of plug-in connection. One part compresses the wire and then plugs it into the other part, which is welded to PCB. The mechanical principle of the connection bottom and the anti vibration design ensure the long-term airtight connection of the product and the use reliability of the finished product. The two ends of the socket can be equipped with lugs, which can protect the lug to a large extent and prevent the poor arrangement of the lug.

At the same time, this kind of socket design can ensure that the socket can be inserted into the matrix correctly.
The socket can also have assembly and locking positions. The assembly buckle can play a more stable role in fixing to the PCB, and the lock buckle can lock the mother body and the socket after the installation. Various socket designs can be matched with different insertion methods of the parent, such as: horizontal, vertical or inclined to printed circuit board, etc., and different ways can be selected according to the requirements of customers. Either metric wire gauge or standard wire gauge can be selected, which is the most popular terminal type in the market at present.
