At the same time, however, local LED companies failed to participate in the LED benchmarking system in Guangdong Province and failed to participate in the renovation of LED street lights in Zhuhai.

It is understood that Guangdong Province requires all LED lighting products in the province for three years from 2012. The Pearl River Delta region must take the lead in completing the LED street lighting transformation before the end of 2013.

In the case of the national LED technology standards lag, Guangdong is the first in the country to establish a benchmark system for LED lighting products, requiring that all products purchased throughout the province must enter the provincial LED benchmark system recommended product catalog.

In the same conditions, Zhuhai City will give priority to the city's LED products. This means that the inclusion of the catalogue will not only bring brand effects to the company, but also bring about an increase in business volume. However, the reporter was informed in the interview that there are fewer than 10 LED companies in Zhuhai.

According to industry insiders, there are more than 30 LED companies in Zhuhai. Although there are many star enterprises, the overall quantity and strength are still far from those in Pearl River Delta cities such as Shenzhen and Foshan.
