OLED general lighting reached $1.99 billion in 2016
On June 25th, the US consulting firm ElectroniCast released a trend forecast report on OLED in the general lighting market. The report predicts that the global consumption value of general-purpose lighting OLEDs will reach 34.8 million US dollars in 2012. It is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 104% by 2016 and reach 1.19 billion US dollars in 2016. From 2016 to 2021, the average annual growth rate will drop to 28%. In 2021, the global consumption value of general-purpose lighting OLED will reach 4.1 billion US dollars.
In 2011, people invested a lot of money in OLED research and development, product prototype and sample production. The main reason for burning money is that the price of OLED is too high. With the continuous opening of the market and the intensification of competition, it is expected that the price of OLED will be greatly reduced. As the sales growth is not as fast as the price decline, the overall consumption value in 2012 may be the same as in 2011.
ElectroniCast estimates that the application of OLED panel lights is very extensive, even beyond people's current imagination, but the current stage of lighting is its main purpose. It is expected that OLED panel lights will grow more than bulbs.
