U.S. Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Final Rules for Minimum Section Marking Effective

The United States Department of Energy (DOE) recently stated that the final rules for the new minimum energy-saving standards for household heaters, air conditioners and heat pumps announced on June 27 will take effect as scheduled, which may have a certain impact on exporters in mainland China and Hong Kong.

The Ministry of Energy stated that although it had previously received opposition from the outside world to the final rule, it did not suffice to constitute a reasonable theoretical basis for revoking regulations. It is reported that the final regulation has come into effect on October 25. The new standard will take effect on non-all-weather gas heaters, mobile domestic gas heaters, and non-all-weather oil heaters from May 1, 2013; from January 1, 2015 onwards. It is effective for all-weather gas heaters and all central air-conditioning and heat pump products.
