Renesas plans to increase LED driver IC monthly capacity by more than 3 times
[High-tech LED News] Renesas Electronics has developed six LED control circuit evaluation boards "R2A20134EVBLED" equipped with LED driver IC "R2A20134", which can be applied to a variety of LED bulbs. Renesas said the evaluation board is "R2A20134 development support tool."
The LED evaluation board differs in terms of whether it uses an insulating structure of a transformer or a non-insulated structure using a coil, whether it supports dimming of a triac, and a control method. In addition to the evaluation board itself, a manual including the evaluation board usage instructions, evaluation data and parts lists, and an external constant setting aid are bundled.
In December 2010, Renesas officially launched the R2A20134 driver IC for LED bulbs. The biggest feature of this IC is the MOSFET on the high side, which can be used with low-cost MOSFETs (500V to 300V). A high-priced MOSFET with a withstand voltage of 700V or higher is required on the side.
At the launch of the new IC product, Renesas announced that it will start mass production in March 2011 with a monthly production capacity of 3 million. By the launch of this evaluation board, Renesas will increase the production of R2A20134 to 1000 per month in 2014. Ten thousand.
