AMD: Bulldozer of 16 Core Server Edition Shipped in August

"Bulldozer" is far, but it is also very close, at least the server version is going to be faster than the desktop version. AMD recently confirmed that the server version of the bulldozer processor will begin shipping in August.

Rick Bergman, AMD’s senior vice president and general manager of the product division, told analysts at a recent financial conference: “Interlagos, our server products, will begin shipping the first batch of products next month.”

Interlagos is one of the bulldozer architecture Opteron servers, will be named Opteron 6200 series, has 12 or 16 cores, supports four channels of DDR3 memory, interface continues to use the current Opteron 6100 series Socket G34. There will also be a Valencia Opteron 4200 series with the same bulldozer architecture, 6 or 8 cores, dual channel DDR3 memory, and the Socket C32 interface is the same as the Opteron 4100 series.

Shipments and revenues in August mean that AMD is expected to formally announce the new Bulldozer version of Opteron in September and control it in the third quarter. As for the desktop version of the FX series, according to the signs of the earliest at the beginning of September, the latest in October.

AMD CFO and Interim CEO Thomas Seifert also said: "We will ship the first bulldozer-based server platform during the quarter. The Interlagos platform is our first server optimized for today's cloud data centers.
