IDC predicts: ARM will occupy 15% of PC processor market in 2015

Lao said netbooks will help ARM penetrate the PC market and then expand to desktops, notebooks and servers.

Lao said that ARM's dominant position in the field of tablet computers and smart phones will extend to the PC field. ARM tablets may choose ARM PCs, and x86 PC users may choose tablet PCs with Intel chips. Windows 8 support ARM architecture chip is an important reason for ARM to enter the PC field, ARM may have to invest heavily to attract developers to develop software for their platform.

Lao pointed out that ARM must also make major improvements to the hardware design to make its chips suitable for PCs. To meet the performance requirements of PCs, future ARM architectures must support 64-bit addressing, high-speed internal connections, more memory, and more cores.
