Philips signs a cross-licensing agreement with Austrian lighting company

Two European lighting companies, the Zumtobel Group and the Royal Philips Electronics of Austria, signed a patent on the current and future patent issues facing the field of lighting electronics and solid-state lighting (SSL). A global integrated cross-licensing agreement.

The agreement includes drivers, changing lighting intensity control technology, and the lighting colors of traditional lighting systems and SSL systems. This mutual compensation plan shows that both parties have strong technical strength in the lighting market.

The Philips LED-based luminaires licensing program is a core component of the agreement, which was introduced in 2008. As a result of the cross-licensing agreement between the two parties, all brands represented by the Zumtobel Group will become eligible products under the influence of the Philips LED Lighting Licensing Program.

Under the terms of the Philips LED Lighting Licensing Program, TridonicAtco and Ledon (an OEM brand under the Zumtobel Group) do not need to pay royalties to Philips, and customers can now enjoy this brand advantage.
