Mobile TV users in Italy grow 11%
The report of the Social Investment Research Center of Italy in 2017 on the status of communications and media points out that in all kinds of TV distribution platforms in Italy, mobile TV has grown fastest in the past two years.
In fact, the number of mobile TV users has doubled in two years, and the proportion of users has increased from 11.2% in 2015 to 22.1%.
Digital terrestrial television (DTT) continues to be the main source of television viewing. Although it has fallen by 3.3 percentage points, 92.2% of users still use it.
Satellite TV (DTH) remained stable, with nearly half of Italians using this viewing mode (43.5% in 2017). The proportion of users who use Internet TV (web TV and smart TV) has increased by 2.4% since 2015, reaching 26.8%.
The report also shows that the growth rate of Italian netizens has decreased slightly, with an increase of 1.5% in 2016, with a total population of 75.2% of the Italian population. In addition, 11.1% of Italians watch online video platforms such as Netflix and 10.4% listen to online audio services such as Spotify.
Finally, the proportion of Italians watching movies online increased from 19.5% in 2015 to the current level of 24% (47.4% of those under 30).
