In the first five months of this year, the 156 national high-tech zones that included statistics achieved a total operating income of 12.35 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.13%; net profit of 726.5 billion yuan, an increase of 8.78%; paid taxes of 700.3 billion yuan, an increase of 11.22 %; the number of newly registered companies was 136,000, a year-on-year increase of 25.3%.

"Quality development is an important guide for the development of national high-tech zones in the next step." Zhang Zhihong, director of the Torch Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, said that high-tech zones should take innovation as the first driving force, optimize the industrial structure to take the high-end route, and solve the technical problems of key industry card necks. It is reported that the 156 national high-tech zones that were included in the statistics in 2017 achieved a total production value of 9.52 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%, accounting for 11.5% of China's GDP; total operating income reached 30.7 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase. 11.0%; the company actually paid taxes and fees of 1.73 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.5%, accounting for 12.0% of the national tax revenue.
